photography by suddenflower, llc is the husband & wife team of Alan & Amy Miller. Amy & I have a shared passion for photography, and we have always believed in providing "Quality Affordable Images" for our clients.

We use a photojournalistic approach to capture weddings and other events, resulting in images that have a relaxed and natural presence. We aim to document these special events as they unfold, rather than trying to dictate and script everything. We also use this approach to a degree in our portraiture.

It is our belief that photography should be enjoyable for everyone involved, not stressful.

We were already active amateur photographers when we first became friends, and we quickly realized that we produced our best work when working together. At first, we did portrait sessions and other small freelance jobs to help finance all of the other photography that we were doing "just for fun". Eventually we got involved with wedding photography by agreeing to step in for another photographer who was unavailable due to an emergency, and it was a positive experience for us. Our business began to grow via word-of-mouth and we experienced even more growth when we officially incorporated the business and joined forces with FABNet, the Frederick Area Bridal Network.

In addition to building our business, I was also working full-time as a camera salesman & photo lab manager. I was privileged to oversee one of the very first photo labs in our region to use the amazing new Frontier system from Fujifilm. This gave me the ability to handle our client's images all the way from the moment of capture through to the delivery of the finished prints. After eight years I transitioned out of the production environment to focus more time on our own business. Although we got our start in Frederick, MD, we recently relocated to a property in Funkstown, MD that previously housed an art & antiques gallery.
